Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose- Founder of Indian National Army

On his 125th birth anniversary, let us pay our sincere-most homage to one of the greatest Indians and salute him in the term coined by him, ‘Jai Hind’!

India celebrates his birth anniversary as Parakram Divas. It is an apt tribute to the legendary and stoic hero, the great son of our motherland for his dedication and sacrifice for the nation.

National Youth Day - 12th January

National Youth Day is celebrated on 12 January being the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. In 1984 the Government of India declared this day as National Youth Day and since 1985 the event is celebrated in India every year. Never say ‘No’, never say ‘I cannot’, for you are the infinite! All the power is within you. You can do anything. – Swami Vivekananda

He was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, and has played a major role in reviving India’s image as a land of spirituality.

Swami Vivekananda's weapons of winning the world were education and peace. He always portrayed himself as a 'Nationalist Saint' who wanted the youth to get out of their comfort zones and achieve absolutely anything they desire.

He was known for his prodigious memory and the ability at speed reading. Once, he requested some books written by Sir John Lubbock from a library and returned them the very next day claiming that he had read them. The librarian refused to believe him until cross examination about the contents convinced him that Vivekananda was being truthful.

Human Trafficking Awareness Day - January 11

Human trafficking is the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labour, sexual slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others. This may encompass providing a spouse in the context of forced marriage, or the extraction of organs or tissues, including for surrogacy and ova removal. Its time to spread awareness about the same and be aware ourselves.

World Braille Day

Braille is a system of touch reading and writing for blind persons in which raised dots represent the letters of the alphabet. It also contains equivalents for punctuation marks and provides symbols to show letter groupings. Braille is read by moving the hand or hands from left to right along each line.

Braille language is a boon to those who can not read otherwise. Several books these days have been converted to Braille. Also, if you notice, the historical sites have their descriptions engraved in Braille language too, so as to assist the blind people. Let us spread some awareness for the same.
